Frances (Fran) Miller holds dual board certifications as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Fran received her Master of Science in Nursing and training as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Wichita State University. She received her postgraduate education in Psychiatry and Mental Health at Washburn University. While working as a Family Nurse Practitioner she cared for children, teens, adults, and the elderly who needed timely follow up with a psychiatric provider. Unfortunately, she found it difficult to find acute follow up care for her patients, which prompted her to return to school for further education and training.
Fran has worked as a provider taking care of individuals and families with acute and emergent psychiatric issues across the lifespan for the past fourteen years. She is passionate about educating her patients and their families about their diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans. Fran is a strong advocate of shared decision making. Shared decision making is when patient and health care provider work together to make optimal health care decisions based on the providers knowledge, the patient’s preferences, and the most current treatment information to achieve the patient’s mental health goals.
